TitleSomogyi, Peter: certificate of election to the Royal Society
DescriptionCitation typed
CitationProfessor Somogyi has developed and exploited a variety of light and electron microscopical techniques to analyse synaptic linkages with the brain relays in terms of the precise localisation of synaptic junctions. His pioneering methods of transmitter characterisation and of receptor identification have been widely used by others and have added important new functional information to classical morphological analyses of neuronal connectivity patterns. His studies of connectivity and transmitter localisation in neocortex, hippocampus, thalmus and cerebellum have added greatly to the understanding of the microcircuitry underlying sensory analysis and memory
