Citation | Professor Parker is distinguished for his innovative work on the design, synthesis and application of tailored molecules, complexes and conjugates. Much of this interdisciplinary research cuts across the traditional boundaries of inorganic, organic and analytical chemistry. He has developed responsive and functional macrocyclic metal complexes, such as targeted imaging and therapeutic agents which have been taken into clinical trials. In addition he has devised simple synthetic receptors that selectively signal the presence of bioactive ions, highlighted by systems that sense pH, clinically active ammonium ions and certain anions such as halide and bicarbonate. |
