Citation | Michael Coey has long been an innovative leader of the international magnetism community. He has a unique gift for defining and conceptualising its key issues. His discoveries relate to random spin freezing in amorphous magnetism, half-metallic oxides for spin electronics, powder magnetoresistance, silicate minerals and tropical soils, and effects of magnetic fields on nucleation and in electrochemistry. His new permanent-magnet materials are being produced commercially, and he has designed and developed novel permanent-magnet instrumentation. These achievements have received world-wide recognition. He remains at the peak of his powers, with a visionary perspective centred on the crucial role of magnetism in future information technology. |
