CitationLeon Simon is renowned for his research achievements in minimal surfaces and related geometric analysis. Among his most famous discoveries are the submanifold Sobolev inequalities, with JH Michael, boundary regularity for the Plateau problem (with R Hardt) and his profound and thorough analysis of singularities of minimal surfaces and harmonic maps, for which he won the Bôcher prize of the American Mathematical Society in 1994.
