TitleDockray, Graham John: certificate of election to the Royal Society
DescriptionWord processed form.
CitationDistinguished for his work on regulatory peptides of the gastrointestinal tract and brain. He has made fundamental contributions to the identification, characterisation, cellular localisation and elucidation of function of brain-gut peptides. Working mainly with members of the gastrin/cholecystokinin family, he has determined the structural relationships between different hormonal forms, identified new mechanisms controlling the production of alternative active peptides from a common precursor, and characterised new mechanisms of signalling between gut and brain. His work provides the foundation for understanding how endocrine mechanisms control gastrointestinal epithelial cells, and mediate communication between epithelial cells and neurones.
