TitleTollervey, David: certificate of election to the Royal Society
DescriptionWord processed certificate.
CitationDavid Tollervey is an expert in ribosome synthesis and RNA processing. He demonstrated that yeast and other eukaryotes contain many small RNA species localised to the nucleolus. These he showed to be required for ribosome synthesis and designated as the small nucleolar RNAs (snoRNAs). The Tollervey lab has long been a world leader in eukaryotic ribosome synthesis. Notably, they characterised a remarkable protein complex, the exosome. This plays a key role in RNA processing and degradation in yeast and humans, including regulating the nuclear pre-mRNA degradation pathway, a previously unrecognised step in the regulation of gene expression.
