TitleHyman, Anthony Arie: certificate of election to the Royal Society
DescriptionCertificate of Election
CitationDr Anthony A (Tony) Hyman works at the interface between basic cell biology and embryology. He has made significant contributions to our understanding of how microtubule polymerization dynamics organizes the cell and embryo, primarily using C.elegans embryos as a model system. He has contributed significantly to our understanding of the basic mechanisms by which microtubules polymerize, using in vitro, extract and in vivo analysis. He has investigated the biophysical mechanisms by which mitotic spindles are positioned within C.elegans embryos. He has combined this biophysical analysis with genome-wide screens for genes required for cell division and mitosis.
