TitleBradshaw, Alexander Marian: certificate of election to the Royal Society
Date15 May 2008
DescriptionCertificate of Candidate for Election to the Fellowship
CitationBradshaw is distinguished for his research achievements in surface science, inner shell spectroscopy and instrumentation development (particularly related to synchrotron radiation). He has played a leading role in the development and application of several surface techniques, including reflection/absorption infrared spectroscopy and quantitative photelectron diffraction. He has made seminal contributions to the structure, bonding and dynamics of adsorbed molecules. More recently, he performed the first high resolution inner shell photoionisation experiments on free molecules, thus opening an entirely new field of research. A former president of the German Physical Society, Bradshaw has received awards both for his outstanding research and his services to the science community.
