Citation | Peter Liss has made seminal contributions to the study of gas and particle transfer between atmosphere and oceans. His fundamental work on the gas exchange process gave us a unified treatment for a wide range of important atmospheric constituents, and an influential synthesis of air-sea gas transfer. He was a pioneer in the field of global biogeochemical cycles, contributing to knowledge of cycles of silicon, halogens, sulphur and selenium. He is an active national and international leader of his fellow scientists ( for instance a member of the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution ) and one of the most prominent biogeochemists in the world. |
