Citation | Professor Anne Mills is a worldwide authority on ways of providing efficient and equitable health care in low and middle income countries. Her research, begun in the 1980's in Nepal, on the cost-effectiveness of interventions for malaria instigated the modern era of economic analysis of malaria control, determining the most cost effective ways of using different malaria control tools. Her work has had a major influence far beyond the field of malaria providing key evidence on many aspects of how to deliver health care most effectively in low and middle income countries. She received the prestigious Prince Mahidol Award in 2009 in recognition of her contribution to the development of health economics and health systems research in Africa and Asia. |
