CitationHarold Vincent Poor is recognised worldwide for his fundamental contributions to information theory, statistical signal processing and wireless communications. Among his contributions are a comprehensive theory of robust filtering and detection, the introduction of many other novel techniques for signal processing and control, the development of key methods for multiuser detection, and the applications of game theory to the understanding of wireless networks. His work has underpinned research in these fields for decades, and has influenced applications in many fields. His most recent work, on wireless security and finite-block-length information theory, has opened further significant new avenues of research.
