Citation | Professor David Phillips, Professor Emeritus, Department of Chemistry, Imperial College London
David Phillips is a world-leading photochemist. His work on time-correlated single photon counting; ultrafast vibrational spectroscopy to study charge transfer in excited electron states; fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy; and photodynamic therapy, earned him in 2010 the Porter Medal of the Inter-American Photochemistry Society, the first Briton after Porter to be so honoured. He has served as an Officer of the Royal Society of Chemistry, [President 2010-2012], instituting major personnel and organisational changes. He is an enthusiastic communicator across the world, through live lectures, books and broadcast media.
