TitleBell, Graham Arthur Charlton: certificate of election to the Royal Society
Date28 April 2016
DescriptionCertificate of Election
CitationGraham Bell has made major advances in understanding fundamental issues in evolutionary biology and ecology. In particular, he has been a pioneer in experimental evolution, using laboratory populations of microbes to study the process of adaptation through natural selection. One of the most striking results of his research program has been the discovery that selection in laboratory microcosms over relatively short periods of time can produce radical changes to the structure or way of life of organisms. He has also made seminal contributions to the fields of biodiversity, sexual reproduction and life histories.
