Citation | Neil Gow has founded and led the world’s premier laboratory (Aberdeen Fungal Group) dealing with the human pathogen candida albicans. The Aberdeen Fungal Group is recognized as a global resource and has trained scientists and medics from across the world in medical mycobiology. His work has transformed our understanding of the fungal cell wall. His group have discovered how the fungal cell wall is assembled, identified a novel drug target and described a common drug resistance mechanism. More recently his group have revealed how the human immune system recognises fungal cell wall components and how these components modulate immune response. |
