CitationIn a series of landmark contributions, Prof Cava has transformed the science of chemically complex electronic materials in a fundamental, qualitative fashion. His seminal work is viewed as the paradigm of modern multidisciplinary research at the critical interface between materials chemistry and physics and the science and technology of advanced electronic materials. Amongst his many honours, he is a member of the US National Academy of Sciences and recipient of the Linus Pauling Medal and Award of the American Chemical Society. Prof Cava is a regular visitor to the UK and an outstanding supporter of the development of modern, multidisciplinary materials research in this country. Both a visionary researcher and an inspiring teacher, he received the Stephanie Kwolek Award of the Royal Society of Chemistry and was the first-ever RJP Williams Lecturer at Oxford
