Citation | Mark Davis is a pioneering figure in immunology. By cloning three of the four T lymphocyte receptor genes, his innovative approach contributed substantially to solving the fundamental problem of how T cell specificity is governed, opening the way to an explosion of information about these cells that continues today. He has continued to make critical contributions to our understanding of T cell specificity with cutting-edge genetic, biochemical and cell biological analyses. Davis also invented the technique of peptide-MHC tetramers as a way to label and isolate specific T cell populations, now widely used in both clinical and basic studies. |
