Citation | Manjul Bhargava is one of the best known number theorists worldwide. His first great achievement was the completely unexpected discovery and study of new Gauss composition laws. HIs analysis of these led to asymptotics of quartic and quintic fields. More recent variants have led to the determination of average ranks of elliptic curves in various families. He is a brilliant speaker who has engaged widely with the public at all levels. He is the winner of many prestigious prizes and honours, including the 2014 Fields medal. |
