Citation | Professor Sir Ian Boyd is a marine and polar scientist who has an international reputation for his research on the dynamics of non-linear biologically evolved systems at scales from the dynamics of mammalian endocrine systems to population and ecosystem dynamics at the scale of whole ocean ecosystems. Much of his research has been focussed on the management of marine resources and human impacts on the marine environment. For 7 years (2012-2019) he was Chief Scientific Adviser at Defra where he spearheaded the production of several landmark reports, as well as being a critical commentator on the role of science in society. |
