Citation | Frank Close's energy and contagious enthusiasm have been extraordinarily effective in explaining profound concepts in physics at all levels of society, including Parliamentary Government, opinion formers, researchers, and the public at large, both in the United Kingdom and internationally - through the written word, the spoken word and the broadcast media. Combining high-level scholarship in research with outstanding authoritative commentary on particle physics and science in general, he has become a leading influential pedagogue and historian of the physical sciences - one of a very small number in the English speaking world. His outstanding achievements were recognized in 2013 by the award of the Michael Faraday Prize. |
