CitationAndrew Haldane is Chief Economist at the Bank of England and a member of the Bank's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC). He is also Chair of the Government's Industrial Strategy Council. His research and policy career spans the intersection between academe, public policy and civil society, often using cross-disciplinary approaches to provide creative solutions to pressing public policy problems including: design of domestic and international monetary systems, design of domestic and international financial systems, issues growth, inequality and productivity, and the role of civil society. Haldane is founder of charity Pro Bono Economics and has led efforts to rethink economics. He has published extensively using a wide range of communications channels from scientific papers to tabloid newspapers. In 2014, TIME magazine voted him one of the world's 100 most influential people.
