Date | 21 April 2021 |
Description | Certificate endorsing election of Louis Taillefer as a Fellow of the Royal Society. Includes personal details of the elected Fellow, citation giving the reasons for election, and names of proposers. Signed by the Executive Director of the Royal Society, Julie Maxton. |
Citation | Distinguished for his many experimental discoveries including fermion quasiparticles that characterize strongly correlated electron systems from the heavy-fermion compounds to the high-temperature superconductors. His work has helped to determine the nature of the normal ground state of these key materials and has provided a foundation for the description of unconventional forms of superconductivity. His many pioneering studies have opened up new areas of research widely pursued across the world. Recently, he was the recipient of one of Canada's two highest honours for scientific achievement, the Killam Prize, and most recently he was awarded two highly prestigious international honours, the Simon Memorial Prize (2017) and the Kamerlingh Onnes Prize (2018).Distinguished for his many experimental discoveries including fermion quasiparticles that characterize strongly correlated electron systems from the heavy-fermion compounds to the high-temperature superconductors.
