Title | Fusco, Vincent: certificate of election to the Royal Society |
Date | 21 April 2022 |
Description | Certificate endorsing election of Vincent Fusco as a Fellow of the Royal Society. Includes personal details of the elected Fellow, citation giving the reasons for election, and names of proposers. Signed by the Executive Director of the Royal Society, Julie Maxton. |
Citation | Professor Vincent Fusco is recognised globally for his research on microwave through sub-millimetre active antenna architectures. Seminal contributions include: (i) Theoretical and practical development of phase conjugation techniques for wireless communication at microwave through millimeter wavelengths. (ii) The introduction of a new framework to show how signals can be propagated securely in space without the need for mathematical encryption/decryption. (iii) Novel mechanisms that significantly enhance microwave imaging, allowing feature size resolution of around one seventh of a wavelength, significantly better than the one-half wavelength norm. He also holds fundamental patents on self-tracking antennas and high performance micro-machined frequency selective surfaces. |
