Title | Rickaby, Rosalind: certificate of election to the Royal Society |
Date | 21 April 2022 |
Description | Certificate endorsing election of Rosalind Rickaby as a Fellow of the Royal Society. Includes personal details of the elected Fellow, citation giving the reasons for election, and names of proposers. Signed by the Executive Director of the Royal Society, Julie Maxton. |
Citation | Ros Rickaby has made fundamental advances in understanding the evolution of surface Earth through highly innovative application of geochemical, microbiological, and genomic approaches. She has read geological history from signals of adaptation in genes of modern organisms, to assess co-evolution of key enzymes and Earth’s environment, and the biological processes driving atmospheric CO2 and climate. Her highly original research has enabled use of the past to understand processes that will continue to shape the environment; ocean oxygenation, biological response to ocean acidification, the critical role of metal-bearing-enzymes in the ocean, and the role of alkalinity in driving atmospheric CO2. |
