CitationProfessor Stone contributes broadly and deeply over a wide variety of scientific fields, including fluid mechanics, chemical engineering, computational mathematics and theoretical biology. He is a co-author on something like 40 high quality scientific papers each year, which all appear in major journals (and every word is read and thought about by Stone, as his nominator and occasional co-author can attest). Stone won the first prestigious G. K. Batchelor Prize in Fluid Mechanics in 2008 and the Fluid Dynamics Prize of the American Physical Society in 2016. Stone was elected a member of the US National Academy of Engineering in 2009 and the US National Academy of Sciences in 2014.
