DescriptionA hand drawn map by Dr S [Stanley] Evans showing the area surrounding the Royal Society Base, Halley Bay. Map includes location of base, iceberg locations and drawing of coastline including areas covered in ice during January 1956 and 1957. This map includes the addition of a whale blowing sighting, the locations where the 'Endevour' was beset in 1915 and nicknames for areas and icebergs, for example 'here be a berg of great magnitude' and the 'Burlington bluff'.
