DescriptionCorrespondence on Simon's visits to the USA in 1932, 1937 and 1953.

In 1932 Simon lectured at the Chemistry Department of Berkeley University in California during the spring semester. Correspondence from this period deals with offers from other Universities in the USA to visit and a deliver lectures. Correspondents include: Prof PW Bridgman, Jefferson Physical Laboratory, Havard University; JW McBain, Stanford University and James HC Smith, American Chemical Society.

From April to May 1937, Simon visited North America again. He visited Prof Bridgman at Harvard and also Prof EF Burton at the Department of Physics, University of Toronto. Simon was invited to address the Washington Academy of Sciences, which he did on the topic, 'The Production and Measurement of Extremely Low Temperatures'.

In 1953, Simon attended the Count Rumford Bicentennial celebrations at the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, delivering a talk titled 'Helium and the Range of Stability of the Solid State'. Papers include correspondence thanking Simon on his talk and correspondence with the Rumford Club. Simon was invited to the celebrations as a holder of the Royal Society Rumford Medal
