DescriptionHe was about to send a facsimile of a letter of John Bunyan's when Herschel's hexameter 'The Iliad' arrived. He was enchanted and did not go to bed until line 611. He longs to see 23 more books and gives thanks for Book 1. He is busy, but intends to go to London for the Greenwich Visitation in early June. By avoiding London he has escaped his annual cold and has found time of his own. Mrs Smyth sends rembrances to Lady Herschel and family.
