TitleLetter from C [Charles] Pritchard, Clapham to Sir John [Frederick William Herschel]
CreatorPritchard; Charles (1808-1893); British astronomer
Date2 October 1848
DescriptionIn reply to Herschel's note, there will be no difficulty in preparing his son [William James Herschel] for Haileybury [College]. He has recently prepared a boy for the examination and he is thankful to say that 'he was enabled fully to withstand the sad corruption & low tone of the place'. Pritchard has an abundance of examination papers set at the College and he knows the specialities of the place. He asks when the boy is to be presented for examination. Having to study a few subjects will be good for the boy. Pritchard laments that little will be done for him at Haileybury, but his character is improved.
