Title | Letter from C [Charles] Pritchard, Clapham, to Sir John [Frederick William] Herschel |
Creator | Pritchard; Charles (1808-1893); British astronomer |
Date | 19 June 1844 [possibly 1849?] |
Description | Herschel's boy returns to happiness and health. During the past half [term] Pritchard has had the opportunity to discover more about his mind, and he gives his impressions to Herschel. The boy [William James Herschel?] possesses abilities of a high order. If Herschel finds the opportunity to make him work 'in the various scales of notation examples in division' and other areas, he will be prepared for his next instruction. The boy is merry, not careful about his personal appearance, and not too hard working, but health is most important at present. Herschel will find a heavy bill and this is explained. Pupils are recommended to pay attention to the history and geography of England during the holidays. |
