TitleLetter from C [Charles] Pritchard, Freshwater, to 'Dear Aleck' [Alexander Stewart Herschel]
CreatorPritchard; Charles (1808-1893); British astronomer
Date20 March 1866
DescriptionHerschel's father [Sir John F W Herschel] has said he will revise the 'Catalogue of Double Stars' for publication and he will write a preface. The work ought not to be imposed upon Sir John. In order to promote this, he may persuade the Royal Astronomical Society to devote £25 or £30 for an amenuensis. He asks if Herschel would like this work and if his father would. Pritchard does not want to stir, but to feel his way, but thinks that Alexander is the best person to conduct the work. He wishes Herschel well for his lectures.
