There is a covered doorway to the left as viewed, and unidentified equipment, including a bamboo pole, leaning against one pillar. A domed building can be seen in the far distance, possibly Thomason College of Civil Engineering, Roorkee.

Inscribed verso: 'J. Herschel June/59. Under the verandah Newmarch's Bungalow Roorkee'.

The accompanying note [HS/2/1/16] characterises this as a 'rough Camera sketch', presumably taken by camera lucida, therefore.
