| Description | ' Mr Beal's Letter to my Lord Brouncker dated February 16th 1662 was read, wherein he gives some Account of the issuing of the famous hot Bathes, and the cool springs of Wells from severall descents of Mendip-hills in Sommersetsheir, and also of the strang Cave called Wookey hole, in the same County, for the fuller account whereof, he referreth to a Letter of Mr Bucklands sent to mr Oldenburg, which therefore was read, and the contents thereof were referred to the further Examination of such Members of the Society, whose occasions may call them into those parts next Summer, to view and observe the severall things mentioned in the said Letter : Dr Wilkins and Mr Ball offering their Services herein to the Society, who did Order thanks to both the Authors of the said Letters.
Mr Reed was ordered to have the thanks of the Society, for his box of Coins of Redstrak's which he sent them, and his offer of sending another Supply, was accepted of.
Mr Howards relation of a Sulphurous Vapour, issuing out of the Earth near Wiggon in Lancashire, was read, the Author thanked, and the paper ordered to be entred.
Severall Enquiries of Groenland, answered by one Mr Gray (that hath frequented those parts) in writing, brought in by Mr Oldenburg, were ordered to be entered [in margin 'Lib.2']
Mr Hook brought in a Scheme of Enquiries about Air, according to Order, and it was read and the Author was appointed to give in such Experiments, as may serve for the resolution of those Quaeries, and to begin with those that relate to the first head, Viz the constitution and Substance of the Air.
Dr Wallis being called upon for his Account concerning the Experiment wherein a weight is raised, by the blowing of a Bladder, promised to bring it in at the next meeting.
Dr Wallis made mention of a man, borne deaf, that came to a beginning of hearing, by the shootin off a great peice of Ordnance, near him. '
