Description ' Dr Fraisier was proposed Candidate, by Sir Robert Moray.

Sir Justinian Isham, and Dr Power were elected whereof the later was also admitted, the former being absent.

An Experiment was tryed with the Lungs of a Frogge in the Pneumatick Engine, to see whether they were nothing but a Cumulus Vesicularum : Whereof the Success was that the Lungs did swell much upon the Exhausting of he Air ; but the Tip of one of the Lobes being out, that Lobe was not seen to rise.

Monsr. Zulichem's Experiment of purging water from Air, to see, whether it will Subside, according to the Torricellian Experiment was made , but succeded not. It was ordered to be made againe next day.

Mr Hooks Experiment , for finding whether the Bubbles that rise out of the water upon the Emptying a Receiuer of [crossed out; with] Air , are real Aire, or but rarified parts of water, was ordered to be repeaed next day.

Monsr. Le Febre's account of an Operation for the volatilizing of Tartar , was read , and ordered to be put into English and Entered. [In margin; Lib. 2. fol. 163 [247] ]

Monsr. Monconis description of the way used in Egypt to hatch Chickens in Ovens , was read, and ordered to be Englished and Entered. [in margin; Lib.2 fol]

Dr Wren waas put in minde to communicate to Mr Hook his way of hatching Chickens by a Lamp.

The Operator was again enjoyned, to make a Modell of the Plough for setting of Corne, and to bring in a Description of the uses and advantages thereof.

Mr Hook gaue an Account that he had looked with a Microscope upon the Viper-pouder kept by Mr Pellyen, but found nothing alive. He was ordered to continue his observations upon sage - Leaves.

The Operator was enjoyned to provide Hazell-sticks against next day, to make again the Experiment of the Virgula divina.

Dr Wilkins mentioned that in the bloud of a Dog, he dissected had found abundance of little Insects. [In margin; See July 15 1661] Mr Hook was desired to take notice thereof and to make frequent observations, with a Microscope of the bloud of Several Animals.

Mr Hoskins related an Experiment of the production of Bees out of dead Bullocks, described by Mr Hartlib, out of an Extract of Mr Carys, found in his Commonwealth of Bees : To be tryed in a warme place, but in the shade.

Dr Goddard Suggested that a whole Animal flayd should be tryed, and put up in a jar-glasse, and covered to see, what insects would be produced from it.

My Lord Craford-lindsay suggested a way of producing Maggot by Horsedung , [overhead insert; and] the bloud of an Oxe covered ouer, with bran and Earth. His [Lop.]Lordship promised to make the Experiment , and to communicate the Successe thereof to the Company.

Mr Brereton related , that at Lambeth under the Boards of a nasty Hogsty , were once found a bushel and halfe of Snakes.

Captain Taylor related that a Gosling being killed , and covered from the Air with a Turfe , was found a fortnight after , to haue produced many Maggotts whereof 3 being kept a month , were increased to the bignesse of a mans thumb. Col: Long Suspected they might be bred by the ground it selfe.

Sir Robert Moray presented the Company with the measure of a Gyant - child of 22 months old : and of all the parts thereof ; as also of a very great Herring. Mr Hook was desired to measure the said parts , and the Herring , by a Scale , and to giue it in Writing. '
