' Dr Thomas Heberden, a Gentleman formerly proposed according to the statute, was elected a Fellow of the Society '

Communications received;
1. Two letters addressed to Philip Carteret Webb Esq FRS from the Earl of Ferrers, one of 10 September 1761 and the other 24 November 1761, communicating his own observations of the Transit of Venus, and also presents an Orrery of 'Transitarium' of his own invention to 'facilitate the conception of future transits', and Mr Davis in attendance who explained the structure and use. [Account given in full, with times of contacts].

' After which Washington Earl of Ferrers was proposed by the President and elected a Fellow of the Society. '

2. Letter from Charles Walmesley FRS to Charles Morton MD, FRS from Bath on 21 November 1761 and his manuscript entitled ' De Inequalitatibus quas inmotibus Planetarium generant ipsorum in re invicem actiones' read. [account of his theory of the planetary motions summarised]

3. Charles Morton communicated a dissertation concerning the passage of the Israelites over the Red Sea by the Reverend Mr Costard of Oxford [part read, but not summarised here, remainder referred to another meeting.]
