The following had leave to be present:

' Dr Baker of Bloomsbury Square, elected into the Society at the last meeting, having paid his admission fee, and the further sum of twenty guineas in lieu of contributions; and having also signed his name in the charter book, was admitted a fellow.'

Gift received of ' De quibusdam animalibus marinis, eorumque proprietoribus, orbi literario vel nondum, vel minus notis' book in quarto printed at Dresden in 1761 presented by the author Dr Bohadsch, professor of natural history at Prague. Accompanied with letter from the author dated Prague 14 April 1761 stating it was the result of an excursion to Naples during the invasion of the kingdom of Bohemia, about four years ago; but that it was his determination, from the time when he had the honour to be present at a meeting of the Society ten years ago, to present one day some Work in natural history to the Royal Society. The book was referred to Mr Ellis, to give an account of it.

Communications;
1. Read paper addressed to the Reverend Dr Birch FRS entitled "An attempt to assign the cause, why the Sun and Moon appear to the naked eye larger, when they are near the horizon; with an account of sevral natural phaenomena, relative to this subject; by Samuel Dunn." [Account reciting his own observations and experiments and to form vrious conclusions. [Account given in detail] After thanking Me Du7nn and Dr Birch Dr Brackenridge observed the expereimetns were new, bu not the solution.
2. Read part of a treatise by Mr Charles White of Manchester, Surgeon entitled "An account of the topical application of the Sponge, in the stoppage of Haemorrages ater the most capital operations in Surgery." Remainder of treatise postponed to a later meeting.
