Mr Thompson made the following engines on this plan: -Davison and Hawksley worsted mill at Arnold near Nottingham, an engine with 2 cylinders 40 inches diameter; the mills were pulled down in 1810. Mr Daintry's cotton mill Maclesfield, 2 cylinders 40 inches diam,, 6 ft stroke, 18 per minute. A cotton mill at Ancoats Lane, Manchester, 2 cylinders, 27 inch diam., Mr. Jas. Kennedy. A cotton mill in Leavers Street, Manchester, 2 cylinders, 27 inches diam., Mr. Thos. Houldsworth. Mr. Bacon's cotton mill at Sutton, near Mansfield, Notts, 2 cylinders 22 inches diam. An engine for winding coals at Stavely, 2 cylinders 20 inches diam. An engine at Marsden on the Huddersfield Canal for winding up earth out of the tunnel making underground, 2 cylinders 16 inches diam. An engine at Cornbrook, near Manchester, to grind charcoal and allum and other works to make iron liquor, 16 inches diameter, Mr. Patten. |
