TitleFinal correspondence between Professor Joshua Harold Burn, FRS, Sir John Vane and others (1980s)
DateJanuary 1980 - 17 December 1984
DescriptionThe correspondence between Sir John Vane and Professor Burn - which includes letters concerning research into prostaglandins and prostacyclins - ends in March 1981, with a telegram sent by Sir John Vane to Professor Burn on the occasion of his 89th birthday. The file then contains correspondence between Sir John Vane, Mrs Burn and others, relating to the arrangements for Professor Burn's memorial service at Balliol Chapel, Oxford, on 17th October 1981, for which Sir John Vane was asked to give the address. A typescript copy of the address, which refers largely to the period Professor Burn spent at Oxford, and his impact upon his colleagues, students and pharmacology in general, is included in the file, along with a version sent for publication in 'Pharmac' (1982), with a copy of the published article attached.
