DescriptionTwelve volumes of scientific letters and papers from various authors containing accounts, observations and theories covering a wide variety of subjects and disciplines. Sent to the Royal Society for discussion and possible publishing. Some items feature original artwork, figures and tables. The coverage of the volumes that make up decade 2 is as follows:

Volumes 10b and 10c (bound together): item numbers 1-58a, read 7 December 1749 - 15 March 1749/50
Volume 10d: item numbers 59-100, read 15 December 1749/50 - 7 March 1750/51
Volume 11: item numbers 111-181, read 5 April 1750 - 22 November 1750

Papers received at the Royal Society between 23 November 1750 and 9 March 1750/51 are not present.

The dates given correspond to the date that the papers were written/sent by the author. The read date in the description indicates when papers were read at a Royal Society meeting.

Each volume contains a typescript list of contents which provides: a document reference number, author, title, extent, date of reading to the Society and place of publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions' as far as could be determined for each item. Volume 19 also contains a manuscript list of papers read from 6 December 1753 - 21 November 1754, at the end of the volume.

NotesDates falling between 1 January and 24 March before the 1750 Calendar Act, which established the first day of the new year as 1 January instead of 25 March, have been recorded indicating the year according to both dating systems, for example 10 March 1842/43.
