DescriptionTen volumes of scientific letters and papers from various authors containing accounts, observations and theories covering a wide variety of subjects and disciplines. Sent to the Royal Society for discussion and possible publishing. Some items feature original artwork, figures and tables. The coverage of the volumes that make up decade 4 is as follows:

Volume 31: item numbers 1-31, read 13 March 1760 - 11 December 1760
Volume 32: item numbers 32-87, read 8 January 1761 - 26 November 1761
Volume 33: item numbers 88-133, read 7 January 1762 - 16 December 1762
Volume 34: item numbers 134-180, read 13 January 1763 - 23 December 1763
Volume 35: item numbers 181-238, read 19 January 1764 - 13 December 1764
Volume 36: item numbers 239-284, read 10 January 1765 - 21 November 1765
Volume 37: item numbers 285-313, read 21 November 1765 - 20 March 1766
Volume 38: item numbers 314-350, read 10 April 1766 - 27 November 1766
Volume 39: item numbers 351-381, read 11 December 1766 - 26 March 1767
Volume 40: item numbers 382-415, read 2 April 1767 - 10 December 1767

The dates given correspond to the date that the papers were written/sent by the author. The read date in the description indicates when papers were read at a Royal Society meeting.

Each volume contains a list of contents which provides: a document reference number, author, title, extent, date of reading to the Society and place of publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions' as far as could be determined for each item.
