DescriptionTen volumes of scientific letters and papers from various authors containing accounts, observations and theories covering a wide variety of subjects and disciplines. Sent to the Royal Society for discussion and possible publishing. Some items feature original artwork, figures and tables. The coverage of the volumes that make up decade 6 is as follows:

Volume 52: item numbers 34-67, read 24 February 1774 - 23 June 1774
Volume 53: item numbers 68-97, read 10 November 1774 - 16 March 1775
Volume 54: item numbers 98-118, read 23 March 1775 - 19 May 1775
Volume 55: item numbers 119-135, read 25 May 1775 - 29 June 1775
Volume 56: item numbers 136-159, read 9 November 1775 - 1 February 1776
Volume 57: item numbers 160-182, read 22 February 1776 - 16 May 1776
Volume 58: item numbers 183-208, read 23 May 1776 - 27 June 1776
Volume 59: item numbers 209-240, read 7 November 1776 - 10 April 1777
Volume 60: item numbers 241-260, read 10 April 1777 - 19 June 1777

The dates given correspond to the date that the papers were written/sent by the author. The read date in the description indicates when papers were read at a Royal Society meeting.

Each volume contains a list of contents which provides: a document reference number, author, title, extent, date of reading to the Society and place of publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions' as far as could be determined for each item.
