| Description | Temperature and atmospheric pressure readings taken twice daily, morning and afternoon, times varying. With notes on rainfall in inches, totalled monthly. Wind directions are also provided, and general weather notes. Thermometer readings are recorded as being 'in shade'.
The manuscript concludes with general descriptive remarks from Harris [pp.27-32], beginning: 'The Seasons in Bengal have altered greatly since I have been a Resident in this Country...' He states that 'My barometer and Rain Gauge are about 20 feet above the Level of the Country, which is perfectly flat'. There is a section [pp.30-31], apparently describing Harris's rain gauge, which has been struck through: this starts: 'My Rain Gauge was made after the Plan you gave me before I left England...' and therefore this later section may originally have been part of a letter to an unknown correspondent.
Commencing: 'A Meteorological Journal [for the year 1804 - added in a diferent hand] kept at Colindah in Bengal by George Harris. Colindah Latde: 22 degrees 57' 15" North. Longte: 91 degrees 20' " East. The Situation of the Place may be seen by Reference to Major Rennell's map, it lies on the Eastern Side of the Bay of Bengal'.
