| Description | Daily meteorological observations, at locations in London: these are generally not specified, but observations from May 1745 are headed 'Lincoln's Inn Fields' [p.211]. Arranged as one page per month, with columns for date and time, barometer and thermometer readings, wind direction and strength, with general remarks.
There are occasional gaps in the record, for example 6 March-30 April 1745, when no readings are taken. These sometimes coincide with travels noted in the text: from 9 August 1749 [p.262] 'Went to Tunbridge Wells where I stayd six weeks'. Jurin's remarks shed some light on instrument locations, for example [p.146] December 1739, 'Thermometer removed to ye stair case window fell to 84 1/4'. A final note at the end of the volume [p.269] states that in March 1750, 'Dr. Jurin was taken ill the 19th at night & died the 22d in the morning'
