DescriptionDaily meteorological observations made at sea aboard HMS Terror, expressed in graphs for each month, with the exception of November 1836, which is not present. Tracks of readings from the barometer and sympiesometer on the upper half of each sheet; with air and water temperature readings forming a second graph, on the lower half of each sheet.

Each monthly set of observations is headed 'H.M.S. Terror', followed by the month and year and [usually] the approximate position of the vessel: 'at Sea running across the Atlantic' [p.1, January]; 'at Sea' [p.3, February]; 'off the Entrance of the Frozen Straits' [pp.5 and 7, August-September]; 'Between C. Comfort & C. Bylot' [p.9, October]; 'Beset in the Frozen Strait' [p.11, December]; sheets for January-February 1837 have no positional information.

Each graph is signed 'From Cap. Back HMS Terror', and inscribed either 'Owen Stanley' or 'Drawn by Owen Stanley Lieut.' With the stamp of the Hydrographer's Office, 9 September 1837.
