DescriptionCopy letter extract [p.2] dated 1 May 1841, from William Walton, and apparently copied by Luke Howard. Noting that Walton had obtained meteorological journals from two gentlemen of the neighbourhood, Archdeacon Scott and the Reverend H. Wartell when considered with the products of his rain-gauge. He notes rainfall at the foot of the vale, and at Allenheads.

With a note [p.2] initialled 'L.H. May 4th' [Luke Howard] on 'Three exceptions...to the General Rule'.

Table of monthly rainfall in inches [p.3] at Newbrough (250 feet above sea level), Whitfield (888 feet) and Allenheads (1400 feet), all in Northumberland, England.
