Columns for: date, uncorrected barometer and attached thermometer readings at 9.00am and 3.00pm, wet and dry bulb difference [not used], dew point at 9.00am in fahrenheit; external thermometer readings at 9.00am and 3.00pm in fahrenheit, highest and lowest temperatures of a self-registering thermometer, rain in inches and wind direction at 9.00am, with general weather remarks.

Each sheet is headed: 'Meteorological Journal for [date]...kept at Guernsey, by Dr. Hoskins'. With the attribution 'H. Brouard, Printer, Guernsey'. Endorsed [p.6]: '1842. October. Novr. & Decr. Jan to April 1843 at Guernsey, Dr. Hoskins' and [p.8] 'Meteorological Archives 1st June 1843 S.H.C.' [Samuel Hunter Christie].
