DescriptionDaily readings of temperature, taken by a Dollond spirit thermometer, usually at 7am, midday and 9pm. With notes on wind direction, and general diary observations on snow, rain, cloud cover and other weather events, with regular notices of aurora borealis activity.

Commencing 'Meteorological Journal kept at Atahapascou - Latitude 58 degrees 38' N Long 107 26 W...'. A prefatory note reads: 'Please to observe the thermometer used in the following observations was a Spirit one made by Dollond graduated to Fahrenheit's Scale'. Signed 'Errors Excepted Josh. Colen'.

Stamped right, p.121: 'Soc. Reg. Lond. ex dono Auctoris', and with a note in ink, 'March 19, 1795'.
