DescriptionHourly meteorological observations made at Flagstaff Hill Observatory, Melbourne, Victoria. Arranged by day, each section headed by the date; with readings taken from midnight to 11.00p.m. on each day. Columns for time, barometer readings, wet and dry thermometer readings in shade, pressure of vapour, wet and dry thermometer readings in sun, wind direction and force, hours of fog, rain, snow, hail, and dew, cloud form and direction, proportion of clear sky, amounts of ozone and rain, with general remarks, and initial of observer. With some means, maximums, minimums and differences at the foot of columns, and notices of the lunar cycle.

Headed [unnumbered title page]: 'N II 1858. Meteorological Observations from September 1st - December 31st'. The inner leaf is inscribed: 'Presented to the Library of the Royal Society London'. Each daily observing page is signed and dated by G.B. von Neumayer.
