DescriptionAnnual summaries of weather conditions. With columns for the year and season: winter, spring and summer, with autumn noted as 'Harvest & crops'. Apart from general comments on weather, the 'winter' column contains a mean temperature for December-February of each year at 8.00am, while 'summer' has a mean temperature for June-August at 2.00pm. Annual rainfall is given in inches.

Headed: 'General results from a Meteorological journal kept at Crescent near Dundee from Decr. 1st 1782 to 1st Jany. 1801'. Later endorsement verso: '45 Dundee 1782-1801'.

Among general remarks associated with the main table, are the following. Upper right: '9 Feb. 83 Barromr. 28 1/10 lowest seen, Earthquake in Calabria, Remarkable meteor on 18 Aug. 9pm.' Lower right [referring to 1796-1800]: 'During these five years the Aurora Borealis ceased to make their appearance commenced again upon the 8 Decr. 1800'. Below: 'Spring in this country I have found at 47 & 48 degrees when the cold of the atmosphere was at 10 degrees & much the same in hottest summers. Swallows make their general appearance the last days of April. This year 3 or 4th May. '
