DescriptionTables of monthly meteorological observations, taken aboard HMS Alfred, at anchor off Montevideo, Uruguay, on the River Plate. Consisting of a main graphical representation of barometer and sympiesometer readings taken on each day of the months July-December. With supplemetary data from daily readings at 8.00am, 12.00 noon and 8.00pm, of temperature, direction and force of winds, state of the weather, set of tide, and depth of water in feet.

Endorsed [p.7] with its printed title from Royal Society Abstracts [Proceedings]. With a note: 'No.423. Recd. 21 March 1844 S.H.C. [Samuel Hunter Christie]. Rec'd by Mr. Weld 16 March'.

Noted as 'Ranges of the barometer and sympiesometer on board H.M.S. 'Alfred' in the River Plate...' Communicated by Captain Beaufort R.N., F.R.S., Abstracts of papers printed in the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London, v.5 (1844), p.509.
