Description'Gentlemen, With reference to my letter R. & S. 2770, of 30th Octobe r1903, I am directed to inform you that the Government of india have telegraphed that the surra material asked for in Sir Michael Foster's letter of 12th Marc 1902 to this Office is now availabe, and can be conveyed to England by Dr Lingard, who will take leave in April next. I am to request the favour of early information (for communication to the Government of India by telegraph) whether the surra material is still required by the Royal Society. I am, Gentlemen, Your obedient Servant, T W Holderness. Secretary, Revenue & Statistics Department'.

Enclosed is a reply from the Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society, to the Under Secretary for India, dated 27 February 1904, consisting of one page, regaridng the conveyence of the surra material. Informs the Society have arrangments with the Lister Institute of Preventive Medicine 'for the reception and study of Surra infected animals'.
